About Rose Quartz

The ‘Love’ Stone

Rose Quartz is the stone of Love. I challenge you to seek youth, peace, beauty, art, music, written word and most of all love. Live from your heart, forgive in your relationships and forget old flames to make way for the new. By dissolving jealousy, bitterness and guilt I will restore the yin to your yang.

Rose Quartz is usually soft in colour, ranging from light pink to medium pink in intensity. Sometimes it can look almost purple or hazy and cloudy in appearance too. It is commonly found as large specimens with no crystal edges and crystallised clusters of this stone are very rare.

This crystal is very common and is found in many countries around the world, specifically in igneous locations. Historically, a symbol for love and beauty, rose quartz has been used as a gemstone and as ornamental objects for thousands of years. Ancient Romans used the stone as a seal to signify ownership.

It was also known as the crystal of Venus, the goddess of love and beauty. In one Greek legend, Aphrodite fought Ares to protect her lover Adonis from dying. Upon leaping forwards, she fell into a sharp briar bush. As her and her lover lay wounded, their blood poured out and stained the white quartz pink. The Egyptians left healing rose quartz masks in the tombs of their Pharaohs so that they would maintain their beauty.

Rose Quartz is well known for aiding unconditional love energy that opens up the heart chakra. The heart chakra is the energetic centre of your body and one of the most powerful links between your spiritual and physical realms.

It converts energy from your lower chakra’s into subtle thoughts and inspiration. The element of the heart chakra is ‘air’, this air suppresses negative energy, allowing unselfish and unrestrained love to flow. When feeling negative emotions, place rose quartz on your chest to fill your heart space with light, love and magic. It is an ideal crystal to keep in all rooms around the house.

Rose Quarts instills a permanence to one’s loving nature. Placement of it in your environment and wearing or carrying rose quartz will stimulate love.

Sunlight Exposure

There are a few things regarding sunlight exposure to keep in mind when placing your crystals in the Home & Workspace. Sun exposure can cause fading to your crystals as well as make them more brittle or extremely hot. Rose Quartz is generally okay with light but extended periods of direct sunlight may cause deeply coloured Rose Quartz to fade. The color change will not effect the energy your crystal omits, however  keep an eye on them and if you see some color change that you prefer to avoid place your stone in a place where there is indirect or dappled light.
